Always be fellowshipping…

“Helen: “Do the storms ever stop?Maddie: “No, but neither do the rainbows.”-Sweet Magnolias

This show is everything filled with something good. When I watched the trailer and heard the first “Bless your heart” I was instantly drawn in. There is a special charm about being from the south. We have our way with words, and if you have a strong southern accent you could probably get away with anything. Sweet Magnolias is a warm series full of joy, Faith, encouragement, sunshine, community, twist and turns of life, small town southern roots, sports, leadership, everyone knows everyone, sisterhood, resiliency, respect, friendship, family, and fellowship. It definitely pulls at your heart strings and makes you laugh along the way.

“My life is a mess. I’m holding it together with duct tape and happy thoughts, and I’m running out of both.” -Maddie Townsend

“Sometimes if we treat people as if they’re good, it challenges them to be good.” -Helen Decatur

“The best mother in the world cannot protect her child from every hurt.” -Maddie’s mom

”Ooh, bless your heart. Go ahead then and work your magic.” -Dana Sue

When you have a kick back with your friends or family, what does it feel like? Almost like an adrenaline rush of happiness. I am spoiled and lucky to have two families and get extra love and also give extra love. Being a big sister is the biggest reward. I have an amazing blended family. My family in Chicago and my family in Dallas are wonderful. My family and I have started some new traditions that gives us the opportunity to intentionally spend time together. Fiesta Friday every month where we indulge in our favorite Mexican food and play Spanish Bingo and laugh hysterically. Tacky Sweater Holiday Bowling, Baking Grandma’s Christmas cookies, 70’s themed bowling, our favorite Halloween, Christmas spent with my family in Chicago, and always gets us feeling festive and adventurous. My family is blended with a mix of personalities. Sure, we can get on each other’s nerves or disagree on something- but that’s the beauty of family and healthy relationships, you talk about it and move forward and love each other extra harder.

Everyone has their own schedules and their own journeys, and when you take time to spend with folks that warm your soul- it just hits different. Life is special and I feel we crave connection. We also could use opposing views when we are dealing with something to challenge our perspective. What’s important is to keep your support system strong.

We aren’t perfect. We’ve fallen short in our own ways, but we are also resilient and strong. We cheer each other on and rise to the occasion. We explore and give each other grace, and give ourselves grace. Eat well. Have more fun. Spend time with people that love you unconditionally and make you happy.

I encourage you to keep those traditions alive that you have with your gals or buddies. Taco Tuesdays, Fish Fry, Crawfish Boils, Galentine’s, Game Nights, Bible Study, Wine down Wednesdays, Sunday Football, and all the things. When the shuffle of schedules causes a pause in those traditions, continue to reach out and check in.

That is the beauty of fellowshipping, it heals the soul. Sometimes you don’t even need to have deep conversations, it’s just about having the company and quality time which brings stillness and comfort. No haters. Just good energy. Show up for people that show up for you.
